Many funding programmes exclude certain sectors or activities. Common exclusions include gambling/gaming, pyramid schemes, loan sharking, sex industries, businesses involved in illegal activities, and the manufacturing of tobacco products. Some funders will not grant funding to businesses that require finance to substitute an existing financier, require seed capital for research and development or purchase exclusive business rights.
